Andrea McCoy
Sego Lily Lead Teacher
Andrea was born and raised in Lander. She started at an early age teaching young children in aquatics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in fine art with an emphasis on painting and a minor in art history from Western Washington University in Bellingham Washington. When her kids were young, she developed a strong interest in early childhood development and independently studied Anthroposophy with the aim to raise her children with a strong emphasis on the Waldorf education model. She also formed different homeschool co-operatives in the Spokane and Coeur D’Alene area, one of which was a successful Waldorf co-op. She loves painting, snowboarding, and having adventures with her three kids.

Layla Haberman
Bluebell Co-Lead Teacher
Layla can be considered a jack of many trades. Her curiosity about life has led her to discover many different passions and hobbies. Born and raised in the Lander Valley, Layla developed a strong connection with nature and the outdoors. As a mother of three, she believes nature gives children the freedom to roam between imagination, play and discovery. She strives to give her children a childhood like her own, full of wildlife, outdoor adventures and plenty of hands-on experience. You can usually find Layla in the mountains, catching fish with a bucket, telling stories around a campfire or off on an adventure with her two dogs in tow.
Aiko Bragg
Bluebell Co-Lead Teacher
Aiko grew up in a big city in Japan, but fell in love with the beauty of nature and mountains while traveling the world and on annual visits to her father’s hometown in the countryside of Japan. Aiko studied Food Science at Kyoritu University in Tokyo and Outdoor Education at Central Wyoming College, where she met her future husband. In 2012, Aiko moved to the United States where she and her husband are raising their three children. In her free time, Aiko runs a small business selling custom nursery and birthday decorations as well as homemade masks. She loves cooking, hiking, camping, crafting, and sewing.
Scott Morris
aftercare teacher
Scott is from New Jersey and enjoyed formative experiences on the Appalachian Trail with his boy scout troop growing up. He studied American History and Adventure Education in college and has worked in a variety of outdoor education, guiding, and interpretive naturalist roles since. Last in Lander for an internship in 2013, Scott is now back with his partner, Grace, and their three big dogs. He is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Utah, studying Environmental History in the American West and preparing a dissertation about the Great Salt Lake. Scott thrives on a diet principally composed of coffee and pizza.
Mary Anne Spenst
Aftercare teacher
Mary Anne is originally from Langdon, North Dakota. She worked for a daycare there prior to moving to Charlotte, NC where she taught at a Montessori school. In Lander, Mary Anne spent time supporting growing plants, rather than children, at Sprouts Greenhouse before coming to Apple Valley School. She enjoys spending time with her five siblings and three nieces as well as her constant companion, Jubilee, an Aussie/English Shepherd. Mary Anne loves to hike, walk, and bike in addition to training her dog and undertaking organization projects.
